Planning and permits
Do I need a building permit for a pergola?
It depends on your canton and commune, as well as the size and whether it has a roof. Many freestanding pergolas without a solid roof need no permit or only a simple notification. Rules, including the required distance to your neighbour's boundary, differ between cantons and communes, so please always check with your commune before buying.
What foundation do I need?
Pergolas must be firmly anchored, for example to a concrete slab, point foundations or a stable terrace surface. The right solution depends on your site.
How do I measure my terrace or garden?
Measure the width and length of the area, and the height you want under the roof. Send us the dimensions and a photo of your terrace and we'll recommend the right pergola.
What is the difference between freestanding and wall-mounted?
A freestanding pergola stands on its own on four posts and can go anywhere in your garden or on your terrace. A wall-mounted pergola attaches to your house wall and has two posts at the front, so you need a suitable wall to fix it to.
Customising your pergola
How does the pergola designer work?
Open the designer from Pergolas, then Customisation. Choose freestanding or wall-mounted, enter your width, length and height, and pick your colours and extras. You can rotate the 3D preview and the price updates as you go. When you're happy, send us your design and we'll get back to you.
Is the price in the designer final?
The price in the designer is an estimate. We confirm the final quote with you before you pay.
What sizes can I choose?
In the designer you can choose up to 7 m wide, 7 m long and 3 m high. If you need a different size, please contact us.
Can I choose different colours for the frame and the roof?
Yes. The frame (posts and beams) and the roof slats have their own colour options, so you can combine them as you like.
How do the electric blinds work?
Motorised blinds can be added to the front, back, left or right side, or to all sides. On a wall-mounted pergola the wall side is already closed, so the back option is not available. You can choose the blind colour, and the price depends on how many metres of blinds you add.
What LED lighting can I choose?
LED strips run under the roof beams. You can choose RGB (colour changing), cold white or warm white.
Can I change my design after I send it?
Yes. Sending a design is not a binding order. We go through the details with you and confirm the final quote before you pay.
Delivery and installation
Do you deliver all over Switzerland?
Yes, we deliver throughout Switzerland. We do not currently deliver outside Switzerland.
How is my pergola delivered, and what does it cost?
Pergolas are large and heavy, so they are delivered by freight to the kerbside. Delivery costs are shown at checkout before you pay.
How long does delivery take?
Your pergola is made to order. Production takes 10 to 14 business days, and delivery within Switzerland then takes a further 3 to 5 business days. For a pergola you design yourself, we confirm the delivery time in your quote. Contact us if you need your pergola by a specific date.
What should I do when it arrives?
Make sure you have help to carry the parts from the kerbside, as they are heavy. Check your delivery on arrival and report any damage within 48 hours, with photos, to pergolach.0@gmail.com.
Can I assemble the pergola myself?
Yes. Our pergolas come as kits with instructions and fixings. We recommend two to three people for assembly.
Can you install the pergola for me?
We can install your pergola. Ask us for a free quote for installation, and tell us where you live so we can confirm it is available in your region.
Prices and payment
Do prices include VAT?
All prices are in CHF. PergolaCH is currently not subject to VAT (MwSt), so no VAT is charged and there are no hidden costs.
How can I pay?
You can pay by card, TWINT, Apple Pay or Google Pay, or by bank transfer against invoice (prepayment). If you choose bank transfer, we email you an invoice with our bank details. Please transfer the full amount within 7 days and quote the invoice number. We ship your order once the payment has arrived. For large orders: if TWINT is declined because of your TWINT limit, please pay by bank transfer or card instead.
Weather and care
Are the pergolas suitable for Swiss weather?
Our frames are made of rust-free, powder-coated aluminium. Retractable fabric roofs should be closed in strong wind, and louvre roofs should be opened in heavy snow. If you live in an area with a lot of snow or strong wind, tell us where you are and we'll advise you.
Does a louvre roof keep the rain out?
With the louvres closed, rain is kept out. Open them on warm days for light, air and ventilation.
How do I look after my pergola?
Wipe the frame with water and a mild soap now and then. Avoid abrasive cleaners, which can scratch the powder coating. Check the screws and fixings once a year.
Returns and support
Can I return or cancel my order?
No, returns are not possible. Every pergola is made to order, and because of the size and bulk of the items and the complications of returning them, we cannot accept returns or exchanges. Please check your size, colours and options carefully before you order.
You can cancel your order within 24 hours of purchase. Contact us at pergolach.0@gmail.com or +41 78 210 89 27 with your order number. After 24 hours, production has started and the order can no longer be cancelled. If your pergola arrives damaged or faulty, contact us within 48 hours with photos.
What warranty do I get?
Your pergola comes with a manufacturer warranty: 10 years on the frame and structure, 5 years on the motor and moving parts, and 2 years on electrical components such as LED lighting and electric blinds. Your statutory rights for defects under Swiss law remain unaffected.
Which languages do you speak?
We are happy to help in German, French, Italian and English.
